The best part? It’s all about layering and blending, not harsh lines or complicated techniques.

What you need (no specific brands required)

Keeping it simple on purpose, because soft glam should feel easy:

Shades: a nude base shade, a light tan transition shade, a medium brown, a deep brown, and a shimmer (champagne, soft gold, or pinky shimmer all work).

Tools: fluffy blending brush, smaller crease/outer corner brush, flat shader brush (or your finger), and a clean fluffy brush for diffusing edges.

Extras: eye primer (or a thin layer of concealer), mascara, optional brown liner, optional lashes. If you love a clean girl moment, you can totally skip lashes and keep liner soft.

Step-by-step Soft Glam Eyeshadow Tutorial 🎀

1) Prep & Prime (the “make it last” step)

I never skip this because it’s what makes the shadows look smooth instead of patchy. Apply a thin layer of primer (or concealer) across the lid and slightly above the crease. Then set it lightly with a nude shade. This gives you a soft, even canvas and helps blending feel effortless.

If you have oily lids, keep the base thin. Too much product can crease faster, and soft glam is all about that clean, blurred finish.

2) Transition Shade (the secret to that airy blend)

Grab a tan or light warm neutral and sweep it through the crease with a fluffy brush. Think of this as your “soft-focus filter.” I like to start with very little product and build slowly, blending slightly upward and outward to lift the eye shape.

Tip: Use small circular motions, then windshield-wiper motions. If you blend first and pack color later, everything looks more seamless.

3) Darken the Crease (soft definition, not a harsh line)

Honestly? Using a finger makes shimmer look extra smooth and reflective. I’ll press it in gently so it melts into the base instead of sitting on top.

7) Blend the Outer Corner (the no-harsh-lines rule)

Now I go back with the same brush I used for the brown shades and blend the outer corner into the shimmer. This step is everything. Soft glam is basically: blend, then blend again, then blend one more time.

If the shimmer and matte look like they’re “fighting,” add a tiny bit more medium brown to the outer corner and softly feather it inward. Keep the deepest shade closest to the lash line and outer V.

8) Eyeliner & Lashes (choose your drama level)

For daytime soft glam, I usually do a soft brown liner (or even just tightline) so the lashes look fuller without looking too intense. If I want more definition, I’ll smudge a brown pencil along the upper lash line and blend it slightly with a small brush.

Then mascara on the top lashes. If you love lashes, go for a wispy style that doesn’t overpower the blend. If you’re going for a clean girl soft glam vibe, you can totally skip falsies and just do mascara.

9) Highlight Inner Corner + Brow Bone (instant bright eyes)

My soft glam “rules” that make it look expensive

1) Layer light to dark, then back to light. I always return to the transition shade at the end to blur edges. That’s how you get that airbrushed finish.

2) Keep the deepest shade small. Concentrate dark brown on the outer lash line and outer corner only. If you bring it too far in, it can start looking smoky instead of soft glam.

3) Use a clean brush like an eraser. A clean fluffy brush is my favorite “product.” It fixes everything without adding more pigment.

Little troubleshooting notes (because we’ve all been there 😭)

If it looks patchy: You probably need to set your base lightly with a nude shade before blending, or you’re using too much pigment too fast. Build in thin layers.

If it looks too dark: Take your transition shade and blend the edges upward to soften. You can also tap a nude shade on the lid to brighten.

If the cut crease looks harsh: Soften the line by tapping a nude shadow over the concealer edge, then blend your crease shade right above it with a light hand.
